🚨 You've just been robbed or mugged
⚡ Do this right now
- Prioritize your safety over your belongings — don't chase or fight if the person is already leaving.
- Move to a safe, populated area (a shop, hotel lobby) if you're still feeling unsafe.
📋 Step by step
- Note down what was taken and any details about the person or vehicle involved, while it's fresh.
- Go to the nearest police station to file a General Diary (GD) — needed for insurance and replacing documents.
- If your phone was stolen, call your network provider immediately to block the SIM.
- If cards were stolen, call your bank immediately to freeze them.
- If you're a foreign tourist, also inform your embassy or the Tourist Police.
🚫 Do not
- Don't chase a fleeing robber, especially if you're alone or they may be armed.
- Don't delay filing the GD — you'll need the timestamp for card/document replacement.
- Don't post detailed personal loss info publicly before informing your bank/authorities.
🎒 What you'll need
- A rough description of the person/vehicle
- Your phone's IMEI number (check your box or receipt) for reporting a stolen phone
- Bank contact numbers, saved somewhere other than the stolen phone
📍 Need to share your location?
Generate a map link of exactly where you are, ready to send by SMS or WhatsApp.
✅ After it's over
Keep the GD copy for any card, document, or insurance claims that follow.
